Become a Mikva Teacher in Chicago
Each year, Mikva invites interested teachers to apply for one or more of our programs. See below for descriptions of our teacher programs.
Our Democracy in Action program is a yearlong program and curriculum where students identify issues in their communities and learn about local government and political processes through research, analysis and the creation of action plans to tackle these issues.
Project Soapbox is part of the Democracy in Action. Project Soapbox is a citywide public speaking tournament where students prepare and present speeches about the top issues facing youth today to their peers and adult allies in the civic, political, and business communities.
Our Elections in Action program provides authentic and direct political participation experience to young people even before they reach voting age.
Student Judges is part of the Elections in Action program. Through our Student Judges program, 2,000 high school juniors and seniors from over 50 schools learn about the voting process and serve as election judges at polling places across the city on Election Day.
