Mikva Students Ask Tough Questions to Cook County Board President Hopefuls
Mikva Challenge held our first student-run candidate forum of the year yesterday at Jones College Prep - close to 200 students attended the event. Also in attendance were the six candidates competing for the Cook County Board President's seat including: Dorothy Brown, Toni Preckwinkle, Terrence O'Brien, Roger Keats, and representatives for John Garrido and Todd Stroger's campaigns.
The forum allowed students to get one on one time with the candidates, where they learned about the duties of the Cook County President's office, and asked the candidates some tough questions about the environment, safety, immigration and other hot button issues. Students left the event with strong opinions about who they thought did the best job, and were ready to go out and volunteer on their campaigns.
The Cook County Board President Candidate Forum is part of Mikva's Elections program this year, which offers young people the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of elections and campaigns. Click here to learn more about this program.
