Mikva's First Ever Alumni Board Launched

Last Wednesday, 16 very excited alumni met at the Mikva office to begin the process of establishing an Alumni Board. The group ranged in age, profession, socio-economic background, gender, and high schools attended. We even had alums who participated in Mikva programs as far back as 1999 and others who participated in Mikva programs as recent as 2008. While the alums shared many differences, they were solidly homogeneous in their desire to give back to the organization in a meaningful way.

At the meeting, the newly formed Alumni Board decided to organize its members into four committees:

• By-Laws Committee - responsible for overseeing the governance of the Alumni Board.
• Service Committee - responsible for coordinating the service component (volunteering) of the Board.
• Social Committee - responsible for planning the various social events, including a major summer event for all Mikva alumni.
• Fundraising Committee - responsible for developing a fundraising strategy for the benefit of the organization.
  

In the upcoming meetings, the Board will develop a mission statement, assign members to committees, elect board positions, and establish by-laws.

Lisbeth Leanos, a Mikva alumna, is in charge of coordinating the development of the Mikva Challenge Alumni Board.  Lisbeth just recently completed a position as campaign manager for State Senator Linda Holmes.
