MICHAEL GOOD
We asked Mikva Alum, Michael Good, to share a few things about his experience with the Mikva Challenge, and this is what he had to say:I got involved with the Mikva Challenge as a freshman in high school through their Campaigns and Elections program. As part of this program, I received the opportunity to work on campaigns at different levels of government including the 2001 Illinois gubernatorial race, 2004 Illinois Senate race, and 2004 Presidential race. Through Mikva Challenge, I was able to take some amazing trips to New Hampshire for the 2004 primary and Milwaukee for the 2004 general election.
After high school, I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign studying history and secondary education. After graduating in May 2009, I worked with Mikva's Teen Health Council, which was an amazing opportunity to work with Chicago students on a variety of teen health issues. I am currently working in the Chicago Public Schools at Northside College Preparatory High School teaching World Studies and US History and co-sponsoring the Mikva Challenge Club at the high school.
Mikva Challenge has left an indelible mark in my life, giving me a wonderful opportunity to engage in politics and activism in my community and nationwide. Now I have the unique chance to introduce other students to this wonderful program, something that I am very happy to do.
At Mikva Challenge, our mission is to train life-long civic leaders, and our alums, like Mike, and students affirm our success in getting young people to become today and tomorrow's leaders.
