Mikva Kicks Off Our Largest Summer Internship Program Ever!
Today kicks off Mikva Challenge's 9th Summer Government and Leadership Institute (SGLI). This summer, 70 high school students and 13 Mikva Alumni will work 20 hours per week as interns in elected officials’ offices planning events, working on constituent issues, attending Cook County board meetings, and helping to run our city, state, and federal governments. Last year SGLI provided 41 students with internships, meaning this year’s program is more than twice as large as before!
Interns will also attend weekly Leadership Workshops with Mikva Challenge where they will learn how our elected officials make decisions and how our local government works. The summer will culminate in early August when students sit down with local elected officials for round table discussions about youth issues. Good luck to these great young leaders!
